Catalogue of Mathematical Internet ResourcesThe Collection of Ancient Mathematical BooksGuillaume de l'Hôpital. Analyse des infiniment petitsIn the library of Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the SB RAS there is well-preserved French edition of prominent textbook by Guillaume de l'Hôpital (1661-1704) "Analyse des infiniment petits pour l'intélligence des lignes courbes" (Avignon, 1768). This book was first published in 1696 in Paris and it was treated for decades as the main manual on differential calculus. In 1730 the English translation appeared, in 1764 in Vienna the Latin translation was done, in 1781 the 5th French edition was published and XVIII century added some comments to it. It was well-deserved success since the book had great educational merits. At the same time it should be noted that theoretical concepts described in the book were devised by Leibniz (1646-1716), Johann Bernoulli (1667-1748) and Jacob Bernoulli (1654-1705). The lectures of Johann Bernoulli prepared for l'Hôpital in 1690-1692 and letters between the two scientists were used in the book by mutual consent. That was played especially big role in the book.
